EgyptAir Crisis Management and Family Assistance Training Program
18-20 January 2015 - Cairo, Egypt
In cooperation with the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) Regional Training Center (RTC) based in Cairo, Egypt, Kenyon International Emergency Services organized a training program in January for EgyptAir that included Crisis Management and Family Assistance Center Training.
Facilitated by Kenyon Associate Steve Halliwell, this successful three-day training program was tailored for EgyptAir’s senior staff and consisted of extensive use of case studies, group discussions, and exercises.
The Crisis Management segment featured workshop-based training providing a detailed overview of the full scope and scale of response operations following an aviation accident.
The Family Assistance Center Training emphasizes that Family Assistance Centers (also called Humanitarian Assistance Centers) are central to the provision of care to family members following an accident, and often double as a general operations or logistics center for recovery operations. Steve Halliwell shared insights about establishing a center and maintaining continuous operations. The course participants gained deeper understanding of the functions of administration, logistics, communications, security and data management and the associated manpower, equipment, and finance implications.
