Kenyon Emergency Services recruits distinguished Scottish communicator

Kenyon Emergency Services, the provider of crisis response services, part of the global aviation services group, Air Partner, today announced the appointment of experienced and highly-regarded former Scottish Government communicator Stuart Nicolson as an Associate Crisis Communications Director to further support and develop its crisis communication team’s global capabilities.  

Stuart Nicolson was until last year the First Minister of Scotland’s head of communications and senior political spokesperson in the Scottish Government.  Working at the heart of government, he engaged daily at a senior level with journalists across broadcast, print and online media in the UK and internationally.  His time in the role spanned some of the most era-defining moments in Scottish, UK and international politics, including the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, the 2016 Brexit referendum and its aftermath, and the governmental response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to government roles, Stuart had wide experience in journalism. His roles included Scottish Political Editor of the Scottish Daily Mail, assistant news editor of the Aberdeen Press & Journal, political and EU correspondents at Business AM and a reporter at the Scotsman newspaper.

Since leaving government, he has focused on a range of communications, public affairs and writing roles. He is Edinburgh-based and his interests include aviation.

The experience across the team includes aviation, terrorism, kidnapping, major fires, cyber and natural disaster.
